Hi,
Over the last few days, i have been trying to get the SDL working with
SuSe 7 Linux.
while following the suggestions on this group, i along with a few others
cannot seem to get the libs working.
I have a new twist on the problem! ;o)
I dlownloaded the demo of Raptor and yes, after compiling, it just sat at
the command prompt and I had to Ctrl-C to return control to the console.
Yesterday, I downloaded the Quake3 demo from loki games and installed it. (I
installed ALL the options on the installation)
once installed, I ran the demo, but it didn’t work (just changed the screen
to a lower res but just left a black screen and i could scroll round and see
the rest of the desktop!!!) BUT! I just thought I would try some of the SDL
demos and raptor.
The demos still didnt work, yet Raptor DID! ??? WIERD!!! hehehe…
Mark.
Ps. gutted Quake didnt work as with it being a 48meg dlownload! :o(

Amazing!
And I find it acutally more weird that quake manages to switch the video
mode! Any sdl program never got that far!
Where getting there … I can feel it

Yeah! very wierd!
I cant understand how Raptor worked as that uses the SDL too!!!
i think that it has something to do with the 3dfx glide that quake
installs as when i installed it without that option, raptor didnt
work!!!
my head is like swiss cheese with trying to figure out whats happening!!
hehe
