Several people on this mailing list have my address in their address books
and use Windows. As many of you no doubt know, the swen virus has been
propagating like wildfire since the 18th of September. I receive about a
dozen of these things each day. They do no damage to my system, because I
don’t use Windoze, but they eat up a lot of bandwidth on my dial-up
connection.
Would the Windows users in the group please get current anti-virus updates
and check their systems? Don’t rely on AV software not updated since the
19th, this thing disables AV software unless you have the latest updates.
Thanks, and sorry to have to waste everyone’s time with this, but it’s
getting to be a real pain.

Please note that most of these mails do not come from mailing list
subscribers.
At least this is the situation on 2 of my affected addesses and different
mailing
lists. In fact I believe that the email addresses are fetched from usenet
newsgroups and this mailing list possesses a usenet gateway AFAIK. So the
real trouble comes from elsewhere :-(.

PLEASE DO THAT!
Each infected computer that happily sends those messages into the wild costs
money! With each worm mail that is sent from your system you rob time,
bandwidth and money from other people because they have to bear this.
