Teaching SDL about Xrender

So I’ve been working on some various projects that need the basic
services of SDL.

For reasons that are discussed on the net,XRender still has some
pragmatic implementation related advantages over OpenGL in certain cases.
Apparently, implementing Xrender support was discussed on the list a few
months ago and it was even on the SDL website as an idea for GSOC. I
looked at the page that outlined the accepted GSOC projects and didn’t
see it listed, however.

So I’m wondering if anyone was working on this at this time.

If not, I think I’ll start to take a crack at it.

Thanks,

Please go ahead. I’ll be happy to help in any way I can, as it’s been on my
TODO list forever.

You can grab the latest 1.3 code from: http://www.libsdl.org/svn.php

Thanks!
