Someone’s interested in getting Tux Paint running on Opensolaris 11 (on x86),
and since there are no packages out there (that I’m aware of), I had him
try to compile from source. He had some trouble with SDL. Does anyone
out here have any experience?
Per your request, here’s my results:
[NOTE] A default installation of Opensolaris 11 (x86) installs libSDL by
default.
-
Running $make to compile the source for Tuxpaint was a failure because
the required SDL_Image and SDL_TTF packages are not installed, nor does
the opensolaris.org package repository offer these files. I downloaded
each of them manually.
-
Even with the included documentation, my attempt at an installation of
these packages concluded with an epic 100 megaton FAIL. Unfortunately, I’m
not a coder nor kernel hacker so their instruction set is a bit over my
head.
If anyone out there on the devel mailing list can provide a successful
’how-to’, I and a lot of small children would sincerely appreciate the
assistance.
Thanks tons!
