Tuxracer SDL and Mesa

There has been an ongoing problem with Tuxracer and SDL on Linux. This
may have already been fixed. I just wanted to make sure you knew about
the problem.

It appears to be some conflict between SDL and Mesa. I’m not exactly
sure if its a problem with SDL or not.
The problem occurs when linking in newer SDL 1.1.5 version (not exactly
sure which version it starts, but one user on the Tuxracer list reported
that 1.1.2 worked fine). When SDL is linked Tuxracer goes into windowed
mode and fails to render on accelerated hardware (Voodoo 3 in my case, I
also heard of NVidia users having the same problem). I have now upgraded
my Linux system to Mandrake 7.2 and I no longer experience this problem.

This is caused by a conflict between the version of XVidMode that SDL is
linked with and the one compiled into Glide. The latest SDL binaries
(SDL 1.1.7 released today) have a hacked workaround for this problem.

See ya!
