What next, was X clipboard and SDL

I want to thank the people who have posted on this subject for bringing
out the underlying issues that must be addressed before this problem can
be solved. It seems to me that the point has been well made that the
event handling in SDL will/does interfere with the event delivery used
in cut-past/drag-n-drop, as implemented in existing windowing systems
such as MacOS, BeOS, X11, and Windows. This one point has changed my
mind about whether solving this problem requires an addition to core
SDL, clearly it does.

That leaves several other questions that need to be addressed:

Did people completely ignore that this is exactly what the window-system
interface in SDL_syswm.h is for? Did people even look at the complex
cut-paste example in the scrap demo? Am I completely missing the point?

No, you are not. I personally read through all of the docs for SDL and
promptly forgot about that interface.

Thank You

I looked, and I understand how to implement it nonportably now, but I
think (and hope) I have convinced a few people that a portable version
should exist. You did say when I brought this up before (and I wished
you’d mentioned your scrap demo then!) that you would consider it after
things calmed down with 1.2… They seem calmer now. =)

I probably also need to remind you of the other things on my wishlist that
you told me to remind you about later.

As to the message you’re replying to, I object to DND since I see no way
to do that both properly and portably, but I still want portable text and
graphics to and from the clipboard. =) Or at least text from it. =)On Thu, Jan 31, 2002 at 11:15:59AM -0800, Sam Lantinga wrote:

Joseph Carter You want fries with that?

  • The_Answer_MD throws spaghetti at everyone
  • taniwha eats the spaghetti
  • Coderjoe tosses around some meatballs
  • Knghtbrd gets the cheese

I think you are missing the point.
People would like easy and portable way of handling the clipboard.
Scrap is not easy nor portable.

It’s easy for Sam because it’s already written. ;)On Fri, Feb 01, 2002 at 06:55:48PM +0100, Kresimir Cosic wrote:
