Where'd Sam go?

Anyone know what happened to Sam? I don’t think I’ve seen anything from him on here in a few weeks now…

I Don’t know. I was talking with him only a week ago. He does this at
times. He is very busy at work and has a wife and a young child. I’m
amazed at the amount of time he spends here, and on what he
accomplishes with SDL. Seriously, what he accomplishes is amazing.
Don’t sweat it if he doesn’t get into a discussion for a couple of
weeks. He has a real life to take care of… speaking of that if I
don’t get off my butt and get to the store I am going to have to deal
with two hungry cats… they are eying me as if to say, well our bowls
are empty, I wonder what you taste like. Now they are looking at each
other as if they are planning to wait until I’m asleep. Nope, they
are’t waiting! They leap IEEEEE …

If you look at Sam’s typical interaction with this list, it’s something
like:

  • silence
  • silence
  • silence
  • reply to 20 different messages from the past 6 months, all at once
  • repeat

Alas, it is true. It also doesn’t help that my e-mail hosting moved to
a machine with modem speed bandwidth. I’m going to change that, but I haven’t
had time yet.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a UNIX shell account that I can forward
3 different e-mail addresses to and run spugspam filtering on?

I don’t know about spugspam, but Gmail’s spam filter is all right. ;-)On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 8:13 AM, Sam Lantinga wrote:

Well, I gotta pay the mortgage…

I’m the opposite of what Neil said in the other email: I’m Google’s

What about the servers that currently host libsdl.org
or galaxygameworks.com ? Does Dreamhost not provide a way
to add UNIX accounts ?

Yep, I also host at Dreamhost.com and they do provide a linux login.

OTOH, while Dreamhost provides all sorts of support for email, I use
gmail for domains for my email. Gmail is just too good.

Yep, I switched all my e-mail addresses over to gmail, hopefully I can
be much more responsive now.

GMail has only one problem, you cannot send
or recieve Mails with EXEs as attachments.
Even ZIPs with EXEs inside will be blocked.

People may send their own compiled EXEs and DLLs to Sam,
but when using GMail they will be blocked. DLLs are okay, but
GMail does not like EXEs.

Well that’s a stupid policy. You’d think they could at
least scan them and filter out infected ones.

Hmm… does GMail know about RAR format? ;)>----- Original Message ----

Use 7z with or without a password.

It would be possible for them, but instead they block
EXEs by definition :frowning:

Um, please don’t send me EXEs. :)On May 22, 2009, at 7:47 AM, Torsten Giebl wrote:

When ever I have needed to send a compressed file which contains an exe I
have simply renamed it to a secret highly encrypted extension using …
".piz". Gmail will then let it be delivered, obviously though it requires
senders to know this.
