Win32 audio bug, I have this problem too

I’m having trouble getting audio in Win32 with SDL + SDL_mixer. It’s
there, but it is very distorted. This happens on Win95 and Win98, both
with DirectX 7.0a. I’ve compiled the game with Visual C++ 5.0 and
Xmingw32, and I get the same result either way.
It seems I have exactly the same problem,
I play tracked music via SDL_mixer in game i’m now working on
I use sdl.dll version 1.0.0 and it sounds ok.
but when I use newer version of dll 0.8 or 1.1, there occures heavy
distorsion in playing :frowning:

my configuration:
hw: P133, SoundBlaster 2.0 (do not laugh, please :wink:
sw: Win2k, MSVC++6.0
source: section “PacDLs”
(pw2.cpp - but I use example code to initialize sound system)

I tried exe also on my friend’s celeron+SB64 and all worked perfectly
