Woohoo!

I just got non-root DGA 2.0 working using the framebuffer console!

I’ll be sumitting a patch to the XFree86 development folks.

I’ll also be integrating the DGA code into the rest of the X11 video code.
Oh, and I added gamma ramp support to the DGA code as well.
… all tested on a Matrox G400 so far.

See ya!

OK, I’m a moron… what does this mean? What does DGA 2.0 do, and what
was the problem before?

And could this possibly be part of the problem I’m having with SDL +
Sawfish (still no resolution on that…).

BTW, is there ANY kind of informtion I can give on the mouse under
Sawfish with SDL problem? I so very badly want to uninstall KDE, but I
can’t play any SDL OpenGL app (UT, Heretic II) under Sawfish…

I’ll answer any questions, compile/run debugging code, anything, just
tell me what I need to give you, since very few other people see the
problem…

DGA 2.0 gives you fullscreen hardware acceleration under X11.

I doubt it, but it’s possible. Try grabbing the latest CVS snapshot
and see if that works.

Ick, I think I covered that with you already… Perhaps this weekend or
the next.

It was a separate video driver from the X11 driver - because it’s so much
cleaner. It would be very nice to be able to mix the two, depending on the
kind of video access you require…

Thank you! You’re cool!

I try…

What? So you’ll need fbcon working aswell?

Well, you’ll either need to run as root, or have fbcon working, or
SDL will work as before.

Actually, I’m having problems with the Vesa framebuffer, so we’ll
see how this works out.
