X11 is not configured to use OpenGL

I saw a message relating the same problem posted here last month, but there never was a solution
posted that worked for me, so I am trying again.

compiled SMPEG (glmovie) and tuxracer. when run, they quit with the error: “not configured to use
OpenGL”.
I have X 4.1.0 with Nvidia TNT2, running NVIDIA provided drivers. All the libraries are installed
correctly, all the symlinks are there, i must’ve checked that at least 6 times. Running Quake3 or
glplanet (from the xscreensavers-gl package - Debian) works, and works very quickly, so the glx
and friends are loaded properly. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Yuri.

Sounds like your X and OpenGL is setup right - what I suspect is that SDL
needs to be compiled for OpenGL - did you compile SDL yourself or install
a package?

And which version of SDL if I may ask?
(sdl-config --version works)

G’day, eh?
