Well, I believe nobody can now copyright the Red Baron. Unless Manfred
von Richthofen’s estate were wise to the rules of intellectual property
and applied for a copyright on their illustrious forebear’s title!

In any case, if you’re making this a public domain game by which you don’t
profit I believe such use of even a trademarked and copyrighted character
like Snoopy counts as fair use. Now if you wanted to sell the game for
profit, you would have to license Snoopy from United Feature Syndicate
