Dude, this had better have tumbling penguins!

Time for my little plug. Coming soon, I’ll tiddle up Seismic, my Kosmos Online
3D client, and make the version 0.1 build link available on the list. Seismic’s
probably the first app to really use SDL’s new GL support (yes, Michael,
besides Heavy Gear 2), and it shows off some neat stuff - like integrating
SDL_Image with glTexImage2D, and how to capture screenshots, handle events,
draw the mouse cursor… some of the nasty questions that people have been
asking. So watch for that.

And it doesn’t have tumbling penguins :frowning:

I’ll have Tux as one of my circus acts. (Where the seal is currently.)

Hello,
I just had to write to say, I really find it humorous that a
comapany that specializes in re-creating games from the 80’s calls
itself newbreed  That said, I’m a big fan of 80’s games, and think
that a lot of them were quite fun and that the computer games industry
has forgotten how fun some of those types (puzzle/arcade) games can be.
Everybody is so busy trying to play follow-the-leader in cloning
idsoftware titles, or RTS games that there seems to be a bit of
"narowness" to the selection of games coming out lately. So, I look
forward to playing some of your games =)

Hehe… I came up with that name back before I had a PC and was coding
a lot of Atari 8-bit stuff.

Well, honestly, I’ll probably put off evaluating it until it has a higher
revision number. I’m not into testing out 0.0.1 versions, nothing personal
I have enough debugging of my own work to do. grin

Hey! THere are no bugs! (That I know of).

The only reason I don’t consider it finished yet is I need a few more
songs and to compile a Win32 binary.

I’m sure 0.0.3 or 0.0.4 will be the last version.

-bill!

If 0.0.3 or 0.0.4 is the last version will you graduate it to 1.0.0?

And is it just me or do you release a new version everytime Sam puts
a new version of SDL on happypenguin? (I always see them together on
the page).

Why use such a wierd numbering scheme? To me, 0.0.1/2/3/4 are all very early
development numbers (like the “program won’t even compile” early. If something works
decently, make it 0.9.x. The last version should be 1.0.0, at least that is what
I’m used to, and seems to make sense.

Hrm… I dunno. My numbering system sucks.

Nope… I just write too many games and same works on SDL too much.

-bill!

I finally got around to playing the thing, kinda wish I’d played the
original (maybe I should look for the rom for stella…) and I’m about
to go rate it, just one comment and this goes for anyone writing games
in general ADD A PAUSE BUTTON!!! I watched a poor clown die while I
answered the phone and have’nt recovered over the shock yet…

Sorry about that. Pause function coming in 0.0.2.

('Course, the ORIGINAL had no pause. Actually, almost no 2600 game
had pause. Some of them used the B/W switch as a pause, but for the most
part, when you were playing a game: NO INTERRUPTIONS!!! )
