Create an API for accelerometer data

Hello There.

I see that this is on the Roadmap wishlist.
Any plans for that in the short term?

I am asking because now that Android have Joystick Support would be good to
remove the accelerometer code from where it does not belong…
What you all think?

Sounds like this would be a great idea for something like SDL_motion - this

I never understood why accelerometers were ever considered a joystick
in the first place, even back in the day when they weren’t a big
thing.

They’re considered a joystick because they have the same degrees of
freedom, so motion in an accelerometer can be translated into a joystick
