The biggest internal change is that SDL now supports multiple audio
and video drivers. This means that both the X11 and fbcon drivers
are enabled by default. It also means that the Win32 support should
be back up to snuff, with DirectX and GDI support in the same lib.
There are no API changes, and everything should work just as before,
so if you are using the 0.11 series of SDL, PLEASE try this out in
the next few days. I want to smash any configuration issues before
I release this as the next stable version of SDL.
This release builds with VC++ again, and read the VisualC.html, as
some things have changed.
If you are cross-compiling SDL to Win32, libtool isn’t up to
cross-compiling DLLs yet, but the static support should work just
fine. I’ve made a new set of cross-compiler tools based on gcc 2.95.2
available on my website at: http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/Xmingw32/
Read the README.Win32 for updated cross-compile instructions.
All in all… my goodness, I need a vacation now.
Oh, one last thing, run configure --help for lots of new options.
Each part of SDL can now be enabled/disabled separately (YMMV)
I’m having trouble compiling the mixer in the SDL-demos on the new CVS.
Everything else works just fine though. I noticed the configure file wasn’t
even chmod +x correctly either. I’m messing around with the files trying
to get it work right now, anyone else have this problem?–

The mixer is probably out of date. An updated mixer will be available
with the 1.0 release.
Please bang on the CVS snapshot of SDL with your games!
(I’ll update the demos over the course of this week)

Hey how do I go about getting my game on the new SDL site with all the other
SDL projects?
Loki was sharing booth space with VA and Slashdot, I believe (I wasn’t there)
Hmm, I remember visiting the Slashdot booth, but not the VA booth. Must have
just missed Loki.–
