I’m having trouble getting the SDL mouse to draw on the screen I’ve enabled
it but at best all I get is a flickering of it occasionally.

It doesn’t work with SDL_FULLSCREEN|SDL_HWSURFACE
Hide the cursor and draw it yourself.
