Dreamcast ports of my games

So the kindly fellow over at Storm! Studios (www.storm-studios.net) has
been porting some of my SDL-based games to the Sega Dreamcast.

I still haven’t got the foggiest idea how to get them running on my own DC
(so far, it looks like I might need a Windows box with a CD burner… shrug),
but I thought I’d pass it along here.

Sam, do you keep track of games running on the DC? ;^) Maybe I should go
update my entries!

Vectoroids

Defendguin

Super Tux
NOTE: The original isn’t a finished game.
Similarly, the DC port isn’t a finished port.
(e.g., requires keyboard, rather than controller, to play, etc.)

DC: http://www.storm-studios.net/sdl/ [ his SDL examples page ]

Apparently a few more are in the works. He’s also got a bunch of other
games and demos (many SDL-based, too) ported to the DC online.

Enjoy!

If you would like to start with Dreamcast development, I could probably help
you.
I have just set up a Dreamcast developing environment on Linux (a
freshly-installed Mandrake 9.1) including KallistiOS and SDL. I was then
able to compile my SDL game, with the great help of a DC guru that produces
a lot of Dreamcast SDL ports, mostly emulation-related but even some
homebrew (Reaper, http://www.imrtech.mirrorz.com/ ).
Now, since I am a bit crazy, I deleted everything and I am recreating the
environment from scratch because I want to write a tutorial about setting up
a KOS/SDL development environment on Linux. I think that to write a good
tutorial about something, you have to do it at least twice
Let me know if you are interested in exchanging ideas/experiences etc

AS

Vaguely interested in development, but I haven’t much time lately.

Mostly interested in how to get stuff that’s already been made for DC
onto a disc and running on my own DC! :^)

I actually got pointed to a couple of good tutorials. Now to just go and
get a new CD burner (never got mine working; seems to be a dead drive
now, to top it off!)

Thx! Good luck with your tutorial! Don’t forget to post it here to the
SDL list once you get it written! ;^)
