Subject: FYI: SDL Mailing List Mirror on Yahoo Groups

FYI, I have set up a simple "mirror" of the SDL

mailing list (sdl at libsdl.org) on Yahoo Groups. It can
be accessed at “http://groups.yahoo.com/group/libsdl/”.

Since it is a “remote” group (in Yahoo Groups parlance),
one still needs to be a member of the “real” SDL mailing
list in order to be able to post to the list, though
browsing the messages is free for anyone.

One way to have the best of both worlds (right now)
is to subscribe to the “real” list, set email delivery
to “none” and use the Yahoo Groups interface to navigate
the list.

Why did I do it? Well, I wanted to keep abreast of
the latest in SDL, yet having all mails delivered directly
to my Inbox was a major irritant. Something like a
newsgroup would have been the ideal - yes, I do know
about the news.lokigames.com NNTP server, but after the
recent sad “demise” of LokiGames, I was not sure that
the server would be up and maintained for long.

The only stinker, IMO, are the sometimes “yuck” ads
that Yahoo dumps on me - but that’s a small price to
pay for a major gain convenience.

Sincerely Yours,
Ranjit.
