Hello,
The SDL_Haptic subsystem 0.1 is released. Features included in this
release:
- Support for Linux (dummy driver included for other OS).
- Create haptic devices from mouse or joysticks.
- API Similar to the SDL_Joystick API.
- Effect API similar to existing force feedback implementations.
- API fully documented with doxygen (run doxygen in include/).
What is not in this release:
- Support for Mac OS X and Windows.
- Custom effects (not supported by linux).
- Effect feedback (only one linux driver supports it).
- Stable API (shouldn’t change much if it changes)
If you have a force feedback device that works on linux go ahead and
test it! There are probably many bugs that I haven’t been able to spot
that you can find.
You can find the SDL branch at:
http://svn.libsdl.org/branches/gsoc2008_force_feedback
Simple demos and testapps at: http://darkshed.net:9999/bobbens/ff/
Feel free to post questions and comments. I will be glad to answer.
You can also contact me on IRC as “bobbens”.
Expect next release on August 1 for support for more platforms.
Edgar
