I want to know the difference!

i want to develep a software under linux, than change to windows.so i want to know
what the difference does the sdl offer,in linux and windows
thank you!

If you tell us a little more about your programming background and what
language you intend to use, maybe we can help you more.

The literal question to your answer of course, is that there is no real
difference between SDL on Windows and on Linux. One of SDL’s primary
goals is to eliminate any of those differences.

One difference that usually comes up (but isn’t truly a property of SDL
itself) is the build process for your application. Building on any unix
style environment like Linux is pretty straightforward, migrating then,
to Windows, will take a few extra steps because Windows doesn’t come
with popular application-development software like like make, gcc, and
the infamous auto-tools.

Some just download the SDL.dll and create a project in a Microsoft IDE,
and I hear that’s pretty straightforward if you know how to use the
IDE.

I know nothing about the IDE for Windows called Dev-C++, maybe someone
else can tell this guy about it, or give him a useful link.

Anyhow, to offer you any more real advice, you’ll need to tell us some
more about yourself. Good luck.

not much difference, the only difference would be in linux you would use a
makefile for compilation, and in windows, unless you were using mingw/msys
you would have to use some different device like a project file or
something.

That and if you worked with file paths, they would be different on each OS.> ----- Original Message -----

Not strictly true - there maybe just a few problems to iron out when
switching over the windows though they’re pretty minimal.> ----- Original Message -----
