Icons/icon names under windows XP

A co-worker running SDL under windows XP complains that the little "icon"
in the upper left corner of the window isn’t set correctly: some kind of
default icon (a filled rectangle) is used instead. There are also strange
things going at the windows list at the bottom of the screen - the icon
is only sometimes right, and the name is sometimes missing.

Anyone else running Windows XP having similar problems? This is the
SDL 1.2.2 binary

Thanks; it might be an artifact of his installation then
