Is DirectInput support dead?

Is DirectInput support permanently turned off in favor of the Win32
MultiMedia joystick driver on Windows?

It seems like SDL_config_win32.h does #define SDL_JOYSTICK_WINMM but never
#defines SDL_JOYSTICK_DINPUT… Are there any circumstances where
SDL_JOYSTICK_DINPUT is actually defined, or is SDL_dxjoystick.c dead code?
