Linux interface to iPhone

Having just gotten an iPhone, I’d like to know if there is any SDL (or
otherwise) software for Linux to communicate with it.

Google returns around 29 million hits regarding running Linux on an iPhone,
and I believe Holmes Futrell’s project is to run SDL on the iPhone.

I’m not looking to change the iPhone software in any way. What I’d like to
have is a Linux application, preferably using SDL, that communicates with the
iPhone to download/upload/sync picture/audio/mail/whatever files in much the
same way as the iTunes software that runs only on Windoze.

Does anyone know of or have plans to develop such software?

Thanks,
Jeff

I was searching my Ubuntu apt database for some stuff that happened to
have “pod” in the name, and noticed a number of packages that claimed to
talk to iPods (manage music, upload photos, etc.)

So I’m pretty sure it exists.

(I happen to have an iPod Touch, which belongs to work, but have no
reason to hook it to a computer, as everything I’m doing happens in
Safari or Stanza over Wifi. So I have no personal experience other
than uploading music to my wife’s iPod using Amarok and GtkPod, a few
years ago.)

Good luck!
