Microsoft Sidewinder

Any plans to support Dual Strike Side Winder
http://www.microsoft.com/products/hardware/sidewinder/devices/DualS/default.htm

Seriously, if you send it to me, it will run.
Hmm, well, if it’s supported under Linux.

This thing is made for quake, I was trying to make it work under quake
III arena
but was told by loki support engineer that joysticks aren’t supported
under
q3a yet… Linux version that is… it works great under Wintendo

Joysticks will eventually be supported by the Linux version of Quake.
We have it working in-house, but need to coordinate with iD about
release, etc.

See ya,

Q: Will we see a SDL Quake 3 Arena?

It’s supported under Linux, I am using USB backport for 2.2 tree,
have to load usbcore, uhci, hid, input and joydev, than I use
"js" to see if the the kernel registred and ioctl handler for
the /dev/ node… it does work if I use major and minor of
an USB joystick (c 13, 0) but it doesn’t work if I use major minor of
a regular joystick (c 15, 0), I am not sure if usb joystick are actually
supposed to be working as /dev/js0 or not… I am still talking to
the joystick guy from SuSE about this, but there seems to be some
clash with the infromation here, regular joystick documentation
says that char major for joystick is 15 but the USB documentation
says that it is supposed to be 13…
