On portable sound recording/streaming/playback

now I know that SDL at this time does not support sound recording…
is there -some- library/method useable under linux + windows (+
optionally mac) out there that anyone here can reccomend?
Actually linux is the only platform I’m really annoyed with at the moment
as windows is (while not ideal) at least useable. Something that can
control/work with ALSA, KDE (artsd), esd, and other such pieces…
otherwise I’ll just finagle a way (somehow) to disable artsd/esd/… for
the program. Hope I don’t have to…

Thank you and have a nice day, eh?

Try Allegro 4 (http://allegro.cc/ IIRC).
