OpenGL/SDL + G400 ==> core dump

I think this has been mentioned some time ago, but I can’t find it in the
archive, and I don’t remember if there were any conclusions drawn.

Anyway, I’m using SDL 1.1.6, Utah-GLX 0.10-pre1, XFree86 3.3.6 and a
2.4.0-test10 kernel (using agpgart) on a P-III with a G400 card, and all
games, demos, tests etc work perfectly - except the ones that use SDL to set up
the OpenGL display.

Oh, they work great, but I always get a core dump when the application
exits. Nothing seems to be screwed up by the crash though; everything works
fine all day when I’m testing my own code over and over again, and X shuts down
nicely afterwards. (Actually, it even seems like Utah-GLX “fixes” the usually
"X messes up fbdev" problem somehow… Most of the time, at least.) I’ve never
had an X crash after I got Utah-GLX set up properly; the worst thing I’ve seen
is the usual "X left in the full-screen resolution after application crash"
thing. But these core dumps look bad on my disk…

Does this sound familiar - or where do I head with the debugger?

I get a core dump too when the SDL quits under XFree 4.0.1/ GeForce256
with nvidia drivers / SDL 1.1.6, so there must be something going wrong
with SDL and opengl. On Thu, 14 Dec 2000, David Olofson wrote:

What version of the NVidia OpenGL drivers are you using?

Ok. I’ll try the debugger to see if I can narrow it down to some area
somewhere… (We could be looking at the same problem - which would
mean that it’s related to the GL libs and SDL, rather than any
specific driver.)
