“It should be illegal to connect Windows machines to the internet.”

It’s not that Windows should be stopped from connecting to the internet,
it’s that people that don’t know what they’re doing shouldn’t be able to use
a computer. With so many free anti-virus and firewalls available, it’s
hard to excuse people whom do not use them. The way I see it, there’s a
clear relation to the issue of safe(r) sex: Most every person in the world
is taught from a young age to practice safe(r) sex (be it abstinence or
through use of protection), but non-one ever teaches people to practice
safe(r) computer-use (be it through abstinence [yes, that word does apply to
computers] or through use of protection).
So, should you ostracize somebody for not practicing safe(r) computer
use? By all means, yes, you should – but only if they ignore you when you
teach them proper ways to protect themselves and others.

p.s. Please note that I myself practice most everything I can to keep my
computer and the computers of others safe, but by no means does that mean
you are safe. In the past few years, I have been infected by 5 separate
virii; and in those cases I have always disconnected my computer from the
Internet immediately, to help protect others.
p.p.s. I did send a private message to the mailbox that the virus
originated, and gave links to a free virus scanner, so they might avoid
future infection (AVG, you can see it’s sig at the bottom of my email).
Hopefully, they will heed that advice, and download it – so you probably
needent tell your mail servers to ban their future messages.—
Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.

A computer is a tool. People shouldn’t be prevented from using hammers, but
they should be prevented from banging others on the head with them. IMHO (and
I’m far from alone in this opinion), MS markets an exceedingly dangerous
version of “OS tool”. (Why don’t product liability laws apply? Oh yeah–it’s
called bribing your congress critter…or was that “campaign contribution”?)

Thank you 8^) I wish more Windoze users were that responsible.

You’re probably right. I had only a few hours sleep last night and was in no
mood to receive Yet Another Windoze Virus. I’ll remove the block on that
particular individual until such time as it happens again.

It is, but who cares?
Well, for a start, the Windows users. There might be a few more of us here
than you think…
