Poll: what do you need?

(first of all sorry for my English)

Hi!

My name is Guido,

I have developed with SDL for 4/5 years for my personal projects only.
Sometimes I have read this list, but this is the first time I send a message.

In this years I have seen a lot of SDL libraries… obviously there is something
I like and something I don’t like. For example I don’t like very much SDL_Config
APIs so I was thinking about writing my own version, but…

since it is useless to develope something that no one needs, I am asking you

what do you think SDL needs?
Wich kind of library do you need but no one has developed?
what you don’t like in the SDL libraries?
etc…

I am not saying that I am going to develop the things that will be written in
the first reply… I am only looking for useful informations, in order to spend
my free time on SDL in a “useful” way.

well… “that’s all folks”.

I wasn’t able to find an SDL library for cross-platform file management.
Hopefully, I’m just not looking hard enough, because all I need is a way to
auto-detect the name and full path of the application executable on runtime.
Trival to do in Windows and (probably) also in MacOS, but I still haven’t
found the button that makes X11 do it.

Too many libraries needed for even relatively simple work. I’d love to see
the most commonly used libraries combined into a single package, as an option
for those of us who are prepared to sacriface a few MB for easier installation
and distribution.
