Subject: Re: DOOM

FYI I am also running MkLinux with RedHat 5.0 on my PowerBase 240
and I have a 3Dfx card (in case any other builds need doing)
Do you know if a) Quake is out as a LinuxPPC/MkLinux binary
b) How the heck we can get 3Dfx glide support.
c) If Mesa is known to work on such configuration.
d) If there are any optimized Xservers available?

Best Regards,
David Sowsy

PS Pass this along to the rest of the crew as I would
like to use this machine for SDL dev at some time
soon.

Nope.

b) How the heck we can get 3Dfx glide support.

You can’t yet. Wait until 3dfx release a LinuxPPC glide library

c) If Mesa is known to work on such configuration.

Not with 3dfx support.

d) If there are any optimized Xservers available?

Optimize? What’s optimize? Oh yeah… that thing that x86 Linux people do

Yes, off the OSS pages(or via several people who
some how got the source)

b) How the heck we can get 3Dfx glide support.

several people are trying to get TechWorks interested.

c) If Mesa is known to work on such configuration.

SW Mesa works now, I think; I think it is a question of getting the
hardware stuff going.

d) If there are any optimized Xservers available?

Yes, for the powerbook 3400

Getting it to work would be a good start…
