Ok… I Got SDL_Mixer to initialize the audio, got it to load music, and got
it to play music.
I started off with the chunksize of 1024 which made the music sound very
horrible and skippy. i played with the values a little bit, made the
skipping better but eventually i got to a point that the skipping got worse
as the number got higher. The documents on SDL_Mixer say im supposed to find
a happy-medium for my system, a perfect chunksize so that it wont skip from
it being too small, and wouldnt lag from it being too big. I havnt found
that number yet but its inbetween 6000 and 8000, Anyways, im sure if i play
with it for awhile ill find it, but how the hell am i supposed to detect the
happy medium for each individual system?
between 6000 and 8000 may be good for my system, but will it be good for
anyone els?
I also noticed that the music in the game Tux Racer lags a lot, and also
uses SDL_Mixer…
Just wanted to ask if i probably can find rwops functionality in an
cvs-version of sdl_mixer ? Everything else works fine with rwops, for
example loading wav’s and images (but not tga-images, but this is not a
bad thing scince they are su huge anyway and i use only png’s if i need
alphachannels) from an archive file.
I too am having a problem with SDL_Mixer. Just like your saying, i can
tune the balance for my system, but for other computers, it doesnt operate
optimaly. I dont know much about sound programming so i dont know if theres
some way to maybe tune SDL_Mixer at run time. Does anyone know if this is
possible? Or does anyone have any suggestions on getting SDL_Mixer to
operate tollerably on a wider range of systems?
Thanks for the help!
