Sam's new job at Blizzard

I don’t want to intrude on Sam’s personnel life, but need to know
since Same is working for blizzard (I am assuming this is fact based
on Sam’s email signature) are they going to port Warcraft,
Starcraft, Diablo to Linux? Does this mean Loki’s down the tubes?
I hope not because I really enjoy playing games on Linux instead
of windows.–

I hope that Sam changed his job only because creating games is more interesting then
porting them.

I’m not saying this as someone who’s used to work with Sam as much as the
voice of common decency:

Please mind your own business.

How in the world can it be a matter of common decency to avoid discussing
where someone works. Unless you consider Blizzard the same as the sex
industry that is.

I think it is bizarre that people on the list are being so touchy about
it. If Sam hadn’t wanted people to know where he was working there are
numerous free email drop boxes he could have used to hide his identity.

The thing about online communities that are working is that (a) people
care about each other, and (b) they care about their project. Talking
about someone’s job seems like it affects both. When you should start
getting worried is when no one gives a shit.

Cheers,

It’s bad manners to discuss it on a public mailing list. If you want to
know something about me, send me e-mail directly, don’t just jump onto a
public mailing list and spout off-topic questions to other people.

I just want to further this; I’d applaud if Sam got hired by the sex
industry; now THAT’S a linuxgames.com article in the making!

Ok, enough, everyone.

If this is off topic, it’s neither the only nor the first
offtopic traffic.

But I think it isn’t: For example we’re all interested in
knowing if Sam will still have the time to improve SDL.

And then, I fully agree to Kevin (@ank.com):
What’s so private or even indecent to ask for whom
someone works?

Ciao,
Eike

Yes, I will.
The design team for SDL 1.3 is assembled, and we’re working on the
new API spec and build system. In a few months, when we have something
we can show publicly, I’ll announce it on the general SDL mailing list.

See ya,
