SDL 1.2 feature freeze

The SDL API is now frozen in preparation for the jump to SDL 1.2 stable.
I will be releasing SDL 1.1.7 early next week, and after that I will only
be accepting bug fixes until around January 15, when SDL 1.2 is released.

Akawaka, can we get a new draft of the SDL documentation, with examples,
for the 1.1.7 release?

See ya!

I haven’t followed SDL long enough to know how your numbers work but
even-minor-versions are usually stable branches and odd-minor-version are
usually developemental. This would mean that immediately after 1.2 is
released the 1.3 branch will start (and eventually build up to become 1.4).
Is this how you do your version numbers?? I was wondering because you said
you were putting a whole mess of stuff off until 1.3…

Yeah, as long as you don’t release until Tuesday or so, I’m booked out till
then:)On Sat, Dec 16, 2000 at 04:52:54AM -0800, Sam Lantinga wrote:

it makes sense to keep 1.2 as a stable branch while development continues
in 1.3

Is there any API difference from 1.1.6?
We are near to release Arianne-1.0.0 ALPHA 1.0, and if there API
changes, we can delay and officially support only SDL-1.1.7 or newer.

So what we should do?

Only in the gamma ramp API’s.

Go ahead and release now, the current API is the 1.2 stable API,
so you can officially say that you support the 1.2 API as soon as
it’s released.

Go ahead and release now, the current API is the 1.2 stable API,

unless we’re fixing the types as hinted to in the TODO file

Nope, that’s in the 1.2 -> 1.3 jump (updated TODO file)
