SDL_gui w/o C++

I’m looking for a version of SDL_gui that is still written in C. That
should be 0.9.8 or lower.

At http://www.newimage.com/~rhk/SDL_gui/download.html all these packages
had been removed and there is no sign of life when I contact his email
either.

Any ideas? …or maybe… Is there another project like SDL_gui that
doesn’t involve C++?
