SDL_ttf-2.0.5 problem

Some fonts (such as ‘default’ font in paragui) is coming up with all
characters being ‘0’. Somehow I suspect this is wrong…
behaviour showable by using “showfont” utility (of SDL_ttf) on
default/font.ttf in the paragui CVS - although any release will work.
incidentally “ftview 19 default/font.ttf” for example works just fine.

freetype is claiming version 9.1.3 (debian 2.2.1-3)
SDL_ttf-2.0.5
debian linux
i386 series (Celeron 733)
not sure what else matters.

Looking for any kind of suggestion at all. development on a few things is
kind of at an impass until I can get this solved somehow deep sigh

anyhoo from windows fonts, “timesi.ttf” works and “helb____.ttf” doesn’t
for instance.

TIA for any assistance and
G’day, eh?

It’s a -repeatable- bug in freetype. I have not yet found the actual
cause or solution…
sigh
any ideas please CC via personal email if possible - for some reason I’m
still having problems receiving mail from libsdl’s host site. Considering
I don’t have problems with any other lists I suspect this to be Yet
