SDL_ttf and FNT files

Hi Folks

I’m having a problem with .fnt files - which is an older Windows TTF font format, I believe.
I have to use these on a project I am doing, and for some reason I cannot install them on my system, so I was wondering if I can load them using SDL_ttf,
and if SDL_ttf works under SDL 1.3 ?
