SDL vs. Mesa

Has anyone done a performance comparison between SDL and the Mesa
lib? Is there any performance decrease using OGL thorugh SDL?

SDL just masks the opengl context creation, to allow for easy cross platform coding.
The library still uses the underlying framework -> which is mostly mesa/glx for linux
now.

Thus there really shouldn’t be performance decreases at hand.--------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the way OpenGL support is integrated there is NO performance
loss.–

They have no relation whatsoever, other than that Mesa provides a fake
GLX implementation which SDL usually hooks into to provide a
window/context for apps wishing to use OpenGL. Mesa is still the
actual rendering API.
