Ship the SDL libraries along with a game?

Hi,

i placed a game i wrote on sourceforge.net .

I also placed some windows executables there.

Is it ok to also place the matching libraries there?

For my game those are:

SDL.dll
SDL_image.dll
libtiff.dll
jpeg.dll
libpng12.dll
zlib1.dll

Do i need to provide some copyright information also?

Thanks for any hints,
Torsten.

sure, you can redistribute binaries of libsdl as much as you want so long as
you provide the source whenever someone asks for it

What you’re saying is what the LGPL says so you’re right, but in
practice it should be sufficient to link your users to the SDL site
instead of giving them the code yourself. You are also supposed to post
a “prominent notice” that you’re using SDL and that it’s licensed under
the LGPL (in the credits section should be ok I’d imagine). And you’re
supposed to include the LGPL license text, but again I think providing a
link to it should be sufficient in practice.

If anyone’s really interested in the nitty-gritty, feel free to read the
license. http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/lesser.html

You’re right – the last name is Polish, but I’m not. I don’t speak
Polish but I do speak Russian.
