For anyone in the indie 3D game zone, today I found out about a great resource for a lot of creepy and historical items:
The Smithsonian has released 3D digitizations of several thousand of their exhibits. The majority of these files are CC0, and in the navigation bar on the left under “Media Usage” there’s the CC0 button that filters specifically for those items.
After you open the object’s link the download button is just below the object interaction window.
There’s all sorts of things from statues and busts, models of sea corral, dinosaur skeletons, excavated grave-sites, even the lunar lander control cockpit.
