Hi all,
I was just wondering how far along the documentation Wiki is. I know people
have been looking into it (myself included) but is there someone on the SDL
team who’s sorting out the official one at the moment? If there’s anything
live maybe there could be a link to it even if it’s still work-in-progress?
I’m sure if it has information still to be added to it then others would be
glad to contribute in building it from the old info; that is the object of a
Wiki after all ;)–

Still testing various wiki software. Mediawiki requires mysql, won’t
work with any other db, and the the sdl website is based on postgresql.
PHPWiki is easy to get up, but it seems to be undergoing a lot of
changes right now and while it may be great in a month or two, I
wouldn’t start a new one right now. I’m currently testing moinmoin. It
seems to be widely used and stable plus it has multiple document format
extractors and highly customizable security. Anyone have any comments on
moinmoin?

Seems to work just fine. Python is easy to install and quite efficient.
I have a test moinmoin running at www.gameprogrammer.com/gpwiki, give it
a try an see what you think of it. I’ll be changing the configuration
and fiddling with it for a while.
So, far moinmoin seems to be the best compromise. It was very easy to
install (I always mess up the apache configuration the first time…)
it has good documentation, it has all the features people want. It seems
to be stable and well supported. And, if you google for moinmoin you can
see that it is widely used.

I’ve heard a lot of mentions of MoinMoin, but I don’t know anything about it. Is it possible to strip camelCase links from the operation of the wiki? camelCase links don’t solve any problems, yet they cause quite a few.

I don’t know if you can strip them, but you can enable the [ this is a
link ] syntax, and that solves half of the problem.

that’s alright then and yes it does look good. i noticed its applet-based
drawing facility, not sure if that would be useful for SDL but still quite
impressive.
