Two half-offtopic questions

Hullo there,
I was wondering about the various mpeg-players for linux/winslows:
It seems that the players in winslows are generally more tolerant than
the ones I’ve tried on linux. Is that because errors in the format are
ignored under windows, or are new standards the cause of the problem?

The other is for Sam: I just got CivCTP and Q3A in the mail (yippie!),
and downloaded the patch for version 1.2. Out of curiosity I just wanted
to try the framebuffer support - I have this working fine with SDL in
general and have a version of the kernel with matrox-acceleration and
one without (running on a g200), but when I run civctp I get the
message: Couldn’t initialize SDL: No video devices available, both with
and without the matrox-acceleration turned on…
Do I have to do something before I run the game?

Yours sincerely,

The errors are ignored.
Many of the corrupt streams that you find are generated by poor quality
MPEG encoders on windows. (My impressions only)

Nope, I don’t know offhand what the problem is.
Another patch is forthcoming, however, when it’s done.

See ya!
