When will SDL3 be released to the general public?
Very soon! We’re trying to lock down the ABI now, and then we’re fixing bugs to get a formal release out the door.
(At the time of writing, there’s 5 issues in the ABI milestone and 264 in the Fixing Bugs milestone, but we’ll likely close or move a bunch of issues out to a later milestone…it’s a bit of a “deal with this later” dumping ground right now.)

If I do sdl ttf atlas with kerning but no harfbuzz would you be able to squeeze it in? People asked why they must copy/paste the render function and my new answer is in case a person wants fancy rendering with harfbuzz. Since HB needs font file information and atlas mixes font files I don’t think there’s an efficient and easy solution since requiring metadata (and not letting it go out of sync) doesn’t qualify as easy. I may have time in about 3 weeks to tackle it
